The other day we dove into the defense and goalkeeping situation with FC Dallas. Today, we will look up the field at the midfield and forwards.

Central Defensive Midfielder (#6)

What’s here: Edwin Cerrillo (Homegrown), Facundo Quignon

Options available: This is pretty much it. For the third year in a row, these two will battle it out to see who is the everyday starter in this role. Cerrillo earned more of the time last season in Nico Estevez’s first year as manager, but Quignon earned the starting role during the playoffs. I think it is safe to say these two will split time a lot this season.

What’s missing: My gut tells me this is the best spot to spend money on the open Designated Player slot the team has available. By the summer, we’ll know which direction the club wants to take with that spot, but I would love to see them spend it here eventually.
